If so, DEA's Portland, OR office is hiring a Transportation Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support our Roads and Highways team. As an EIT, the responsibilities will be diverse and will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Working with project teams on all aspects of projects, including project set-up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination/organization, etc.
  • Preparing and designing improvement plans for a wide range of multi-modal transportation projects
  • Preparing and/or modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and designs for projects
  • Analyzing maps, reports, drawings, as-builts and test results for design projects
  • Assisting with post design construction support services to respond to contractor RFI's, submittal reviews, as-built preparation, and field observations
  • Performing construction inspection on project-specific basis
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines and offices on multi-discipline projects
  • Assisting with utility coordination including conflict analysis and coordination with public and private utility companies.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training Certification
  • 0-2 years of professional engineering experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Drafting and design experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation/InRoads, or OpenRoads Designer
  • Construction experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing transportation projects
