DEA's Portland, OR office is hiring a Transportation Project Engineer to support our Roads and Highways group while working on transportation related projects. A successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter assigned to work on multi-discipline projects as a project engineer and perform engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience, and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. The work may include street improvements, utility, freeway, highway, multimodal, and transit design, including construction documents and all supporting documentation. If interested, this position has the ability to be a Team Leader, but is not required.

Other duties include:
  • Designs, prepares, and oversees the preparation of preliminary and final civil construction plans.
  • Coordinate projects with supervisors, project managers, and firm staff.
  • Ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables of quality that meet or exceed the industry's standard of care.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and/or directs the design of other disciplines including traffic, structures, erosion control, stormwater, water, and transit (including BRT, light rail, and streetcar).
  • Preparation and modification of reports, specifications, and cost estimates for project.
  • Develop, track and modify project schedules.
  • Delegating tasks and mentoring junior staff.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience with state and local agencies
  • MicroStation/InRoads, OpenRoads, or Civil3D design is preferred


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering License in the State of Oregon
  • Experience with in Oregon state and local agencies
  • 8+ years of transportation project experience
