Job Description
DEA is hiring a Bridge Engineer for either the Seattle, Bellevue, Olympia, or Tacoma, Washington offices to perform technical bridge engineering on bridge projects. Areas of work to include bridge planning, design, construction engineering, in-service inspection, preservation and rehabilitation projects. A successful candidate will be able to assist project teams through the completion of various projects and task assignments in the role of Engineer. In this role you will perform and/or check structural analyses and develop or check design calculations using AASHTO and other design codes for different bridge, transportation, and transit structural systems. Additionally, a successful candidate will have knowledge of bridge load rating practices, bridge field inspection and reporting practices.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the development of bridge design deliverables including concept reports, TS&L Reports, design calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and construction schedules
  • Checking of engineering calculations, drawings, estimates, specifications, and construction schedule deliverables for accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements
  • Perform, and deliver condition inspection and reporting of in-service bridges
  • Develop and check load rating calculations and reports
  • Communicate with client's and express the client's needs to project team


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of bridge engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Washington
  • Experience in structural design software applications, with an emphasis on bridge design software, such as SAP2000, Midas Civil, LARSA 4D, PG Super, Conspan, LPile, BRASS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Knowledgeable of AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented environment


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Registered Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of Washington
  • Knowledgeable of WSDOT and Sound Transit bridge design standards
