Purpose

Perform the design and engineering services related to residential and commercial land development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction
  • Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and broad parameters for execution. Receive direction on highly complex assignments. Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of (engineering) principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.

At the Operational and Company Level
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
  • Serve as senior technical consultant to individuals within and outside the organization.
  • May plan, organize, and supervise work of staff/junior engineers or technicians.
  • Drive the profitability and growth of projects.

Do the Work
  • Initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies, which require skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
  • Create and analyze processes, systems and programs related to civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines.
  • Make authoritative decisions and recommendations that have important impact on extensive engineering activities of the Company.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering complexities, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities.
  • Offer technical guidance, review progress and advise procedural changes as required.
  • Coordinate the preparation or develop of engineering plans and specifications; coordinate required advertising for bids; review bids and make necessary recommendations based on bids, competency of vendors and consultants and the selection criteria.
  • Oversee assigned projects to ensure compliance with time and budget parameters for the project.
  • Review project development plans for compliance with codes, regulations and standards, adequacy of applications for permits, and compliance with approved plans.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required at time of employment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Ten or more (10+) years of experience in the land development industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as Civil3D.
  • Familiarity with reading construction plans.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Primarily indoor professional office environment, which can consist of possible bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Some outdoor work environment and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
