Overview

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. is seeking a leader to grow and expand our Ecological Practice Group to serve mining, energy, solid waste, commercial, institutional, and energy clients. We anticipate this leader will be an established professional, with strong technical, project management, and client-facing leadership skills along with maintaining regulatory compliance standards.

This position may/will require periodic travel and field work. You will lead projects and assist in recruiting, supervising, and mentoring technical and field staff. Working with clients, contractors, and local government officials, you will impact the whole project - from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory review process, bidding, and construction. Projects will/may include any of the following areas of emphasis: wetland and stream assessments, delineations, and mitigation; endangered species surveys including bats and plants; natural stream channel restoration; invasive plant control; bio-retention and wetland treatment systems; and ecological risk assessments.

Qualifications

  • 10-20 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Aquatic/Stream Ecology, Terrestrial Ecology, Threatened and Endangered Species, Toxicology, Water and Sediment Quality, Ecosystem Restoration / Design, or Environmental Permitting and Reporting
  • B.S. degree in Ecology, Biology, Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or Hydrology or related technical field (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred);
  • Local, regional, and/or national contacts and the ability to develop, market, and manage for new and existing clients to assist in expanding the Greenville office;
  • Understanding of Section 401, 402, 404 Federal Clean Water Act Regulations;
  • Demonstrated understanding of State and Federal regulations from agencies such as USEPA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and US Fish & Wildlife Service; and
  • Knowledge / experience with RIVERMorph® Stream Restoration Software, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, Survey Grade GPS, and Total Station a plus.
