Overview

Come join Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in Knoxville as a stream and wetland ecologist in the Ecological Group. We have a great, high energy, multidisciplined office that is conveniently located on the University of Tennessee Technology Park campus. In addition, we offer a flexible hybrid work schedule of 2 days work-from-home or 1 day off every other week. As an Ecologist, you'll have the opportunity to participate in tasks ranging from field data collection, stream and wetland assessments, to stream restoration and more on a variety of public and private sector projects. This position affords a mix of field and office work, supplemented with training in the critical areas of technical expertise, data interpretation, financial management, and client development that are needed to grow into a complete consultant. You'll be part of a team led by senior personnel who will mentor you through all stages of projects - from proposal to final deliverable. Potential candidates can range from a few years of experience to seasoned project manager.

Qualifications

  • B.A. or B.S. in a natural sciences field (e.g., Biology, Forestry, Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Geology);
  • 2-5 years of experience performing stream and wetland delineations;
  • Ability to lift 25-50lbs;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple project tasks;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • GIS mapping experience and knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS programs;
  • Experience with technical writing, data analysis, and report drafting;
  • Experience in stream and wetland mitigation, TDEC ARAP permitting, and reporting under Section 401/404 Federal Clean Water Act Regulations;
  • Knowledge and experience performing Tennessee Stream Quantification Tool (SQT) Assessments and/or other geomorphic assessments preferable.
