Overview
Come join Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in Bridgeport as a Field Technician in the Civil-Site Group. We have a great, high energy, multidisciplined office that is conveniently located just off of Interstate 79. This opportunity is specifically for providing field technician services in the Garrett County, MD area. The selected candidate will not be required to take on projects outside of Garrett County. Compensation will be an hourly rate. Candidates will be responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the project sites. No additional compensation will be provided for mileage, lodging, or other per diem items.
As a construction Field Technician for CEC, you will have the opportunity to work with several practices in our Bridgeport WV Office, along with the Civil-Site practice. In this as-needed position, the majority of your time will be spent in the field. You will be responsible for quality assurance, collection of field data, observation, and testing of water and sanitary sewer systems in the Garrett County, MD area. As part of the daily responsibilities, accurate daily field reports will need generated and provided to the project manager. Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) includes: pipe installation, manhole/cleanout installation, air release valve assembly installation, hydrants, riser assembly installation, valve sets, testing, and other appurtenances/features associated with the water and sanitary sewer systems. Weekend work is not expected, however, may be necessary based on the contractor's schedule. Candidates will not be expected to work out of the Bridgeport, WV office, however, periodic visits for training or meetings may be required as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
5+ years' experience in construction observation or related field;
Experience with earthwork, concrete, and piping projects;
Experience interacting with construction site personnel, engineers, and state/federal representatives;
Valid driver's license;
Ability to work independently in the field in varying weather conditions with strict adherence to operating procedures and safety policies;
Technical degree (engineering, science or related field) is a plus, but not required;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel;
Ability to interpret and understand information on construction drawings and technical specifications.
