Job Description

  • The APS-II in Geomatics supports both FLREC and statewide Geomatics
    faculty by teaching and administering Geomatics courses and labs at
    FLREC. The position develops curriculum, acts as lead instructor, and
    administers program courses as needed. The APS-II in Geomatics works
    with School of Forest Resources and Conservation (SFRC) staff in
    maintaining the Geomatics undergraduate curriculum, graduate curriculum,
    and recruitment activities. The position is responsible for co-creating
    new academic offerings (e.g., certificates and degrees) with Geomatics
    faculty based upon needs from the professional community.
  • The APS-II in Geomatics writes and edits complex content for program
    proposals, research grants, publications, and other program activities.
    The position is also responsible for conducting field and office
    research activities.
  • The APS-II in Geomatics develops, participates, and tracks outcomes
    from outreach and recruitment events in South Florida. The position
    attends and coordinates meetings with the local surveying societies and
    GIS professional groups. Further, the position acts as a liaison between
    the educational community and the professional geospatial community.
    The position is responsible for updating and improving the FLREC
    Geomatics website and initiating program promotion efforts through
    social media and other venues. The APS-II in Geomatics advises
    prospective students by responding to inquiries and guiding them through
    the admissions process. The position advises current Geomatics students
    of university policies and curriculum requirements necessary for
    graduation. The APS-II mentors prospective students, current students,
    and program staff in career planning.
  • The APS-II in Geomatics researches and makes purchasing
    recommendations related to software and hardware expenditures. The
    position develops and maintains an office and field equipment inventory.
    The APS-II in Geomatics also maintains Geomatics field equipment for
    labs and research activities. The position coordinates with FLREC IT
    personnel, SFRC IT personnel, and Geomatics faculty in ensuring that the
    most current versions of software programs are accessible for students
    in the FLREC computer lab. The APS-II in Geomatics is responsible for
    being proficient in using classroom and distance education technologies
    such as video conferencing, Adobe Connect, etc. The position attends
    meetings as required and completes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
