Job Description
The GIS Analyst will be responsible for helping AidData identify the strategies and processes needed to support (a) existing spatial data offerings by AidData (including the GeoQuery project), (b) quality assurance routines for the production of such data, and (c) ongoing data analytic tasks. The GIS Analyst will further be responsible for interacting with large undergraduate student teams, who help to facilitate data production. Machine learning techniques ? specifically, those applied to spatial data to produce new datasets ? will be regularly employed in this position. The GIS Analyst will work primarily with the Senior Geospatial Scientist.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Geography, Geographic Information Science, Computer Science, or a related field or commensurate professional experience (3+ yrs) Computer programming experience, using R, SQL, Python, Perl, and/or shell Relational database management experience, using PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite Geographic information systems and remote sensing experience, such as ArcGIS, Idrisi Taiga, and or Erdas Imagine Experience independently designing and implementing geospatial research projects/programs Experience with open source mapping tools Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Proven ability to manage a broad and unpredictable workload and meet deadlines and work under own initiative. Excellent (written and verbal) communication and client interaction skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook Excellent analytical and presentation skills Fluency in English Ability to engage and manage undergraduate students. Ability to independently design and perform machine learning experiments. 
Job Requirements
Familiarity with Version Control systems and software (e.g. GitHub, SVN); One or more Javascript mapping application frameworks (e.g. Leaflet, Openlayers); Familiarity with server-side geospatial software and techniques; Familiarity with Postgres, PostGIS and/or MongoDB; Familiarity with OGC standards; Strong knowledge of open data standards Familiarity with International Aid Finance data standards and terminology.
