Your Impact at SAM

  • The IT Operations Manager is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the SAM data and voice networks, servers, storage, applications, and large format printers throughout the company. The position is also responsible for supervising the Help Desk and Systems Administration teams.
  • IT Operations - Responsible for availability, capacity planning, upgrades, troubleshooting and decommissioning of IT infrastructure. Main technical escalation point in the event of service interruptions.
  • Team Leadership - Coordinate and plan project team member tasks and efforts. Provides status reports and performance/skills assessment feedback of project team members to the Director of IT.
  • Standards Setting - Recommending standards and policies for all aspects of IT hardware and software with approval by appropriate department team members and Director of IT.
  • Project Management - Provide leadership, at the personnel and technical level, to manage IT projects from conceptual, cost analysis, architecture, approval, implementation and post production support phases.
  • Budgeting - Assist in preparing IT annual budget and tracking all CapEx and OpEx expenditures.
  • Vendor Relationship Management - Involved in new service vendor selection process and contract negotiations.
  • Auditing - Coordinates and conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers and computers to ensure compliance with established IT standards, policies and configuration guidelines.
  • Technical Consultation - Provide technical support and consultation for the IT environment to IT staff, internal users and vendors as necessary.
  • Mentoring - Instruct and help develop less experienced system administrators and other technical staff where appropriate.
  • Supports the Company to achieve its vision and mission, while successfully practicing its core values related to employees, ethics, operational excellence, safety, integrity and corporate social responsibility.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company's strategic goals.
  • This position has direct supervisory responsibilities of employees to include mentoring, coaching, and counseling staff as needed.

What You Bring to SAM

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Technology or job experience related equivalence
  • 10-15 years' experience in managing IT infrastructure and people with demonstrated experience in maintaining secure data center environments
  • Successful as a project or technical lead in at least three large IT implementation projects
    • A large project is defined as having over a 250k budget, over 500 devices affected or involving 5 or more people on the project team
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills across multiple technology platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technology proposals to business leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical groups
  • Project management leadership experience
  • Professional with a "Customer Service" attitude
  • Motivate and results oriented with an ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environment
  • PMP preferred
  • ITIL foundations certification required
  • ITIL practitioner in Availability, Capacity or Service Management a plus.
  • Any other technology certifications a plus
