DEA is hiring for an experienced Senior Project Manager in our Water and Environment Business Unit's Environmental Planning and Compliance group. The primary focus of this position is to lead diverse teams of technical and permitting specialists to facilitate permitting of large-scale infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be client-focused, solution-oriented, and a skilled communicator. They will strive to anticipate the needs of their client and seek to exceed their expectations. The successful candidate will join a talented and robust environmental planning and compliance team based in Portland, Oregon.

The Senior Project Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provide expertise in local, state, and federal permitting processes in Northwest Oregon, as well as knowledge of project development and construction practices
  • Ensure excellence in project execution for on-time, on-budget deliverables to meet or exceed DEA's and the industry's standard of care
  • Collaborate with design engineers and contractors to avoid and/or minimize impacts to environmental resources and to support permit compliance.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project team and staff.
  • Review environmental documents and deliverables for compliance with contractual requirements as part of DEA's Quality Management standards
  • Work with the Environmental Planning and Compliance Practice and Group Leaders to manage office resources and staff availability to complete existing project work
  • Partner with Practice and Group Leaders to support employee development and career growth opportunities for project delivery staff
  • Work with the Market Leader to support permitting and compliance aspects of business development and proposal preparation.
  • Adhere to firmwide tools, processes, and policies including project accounting (set up, budgeting, etc.), contracting, and quality requirements
  • Other duties may include staff supervision, business development, proposal preparation, and mentoring.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience with local, state, and federal permitting processes related to land use, natural resources, and construction permits
  • 5+ years' experience with managing high-value projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with significant client interaction
  • Experience with tracking multiple tasks, delegating work, providing quality control reviews, and interfacing with client project managers
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including scope management, budget tracking, and issue identification and resolution
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental studies, planning, or environmental engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 12+ years' experience with managing high-value projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with significant client interaction
  • Familiarity with GIS
  • Master's degree in biology, environmental studies, planning, or environmental engineering
