Your Impact at SAM
As a Survey Crew Chief, you will be responsible for overseeing and conducting site control, ALTA, Boundary, Topography, and Construction Staking Surveys. This role has a strong focus in the commercial, utilities, transportation, and renewables industries and involves collecting accurate spatial data. You will oversee the daily field operations of a land survey crew, communicate with Project Surveyor's and Project Managers regarding projects schedule and work progress.
Determine most efficient plan of action for data acquisition for field surveys ranging from primary control through construction layout and as-built surveys, as needed
Proficient with documentation of work performed and sketches
Interact professionally with client representative and land owners
Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications and understand all aspects of the land survey project specifications and tolerances
Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork
Maintain land surveying vehicle and field equipment
Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to SAM
5+ years of industry experience, prior crew chief experience is preferred
Ability to travel on a regular basis
Competent operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs. Experience with Trimble equipment is preferred
Strong computer and technical skills
Strong communication skills (listening, writing and verbal)
Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
Ability to work in all-weather climates
Ability to walk long distances through a variety of terrains and carry up to 80lbs
Valid driver's license, clean background check and drug screening
