Your Impact at SAM

You will primarily assist the Applied Technology team in creating and updating all documentation, user manuals, and how-to guides. You will collaborate with the team to learn about technical documentation and figure out how to simplify technical information into easy-to-understand text. The Technical Writing Intern role is responsible for applying documentation concepts to existing and new software and workflow documentation in an enterprise environment. This role will work under the supervision of a Project Manager.

This position is full time (appx. 30-40 hr./week) for 10-12 weeks starting May 2024.

  • Collaborate with the development team to get a basic understanding of the documentation requirements and specifications
  • Learn about technical documentation and concepts adopted by our company
  • Brainstorm with the development team to figure out how to simplify technical information for end-users
  • Create, edit and proofread all technical documents before submitting them to the editors or your supervisors
  • Assist in creating high-quality documentation, guides, manuals, and tutorials
  • Review and update documentation when required
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company's strategic goals

What You Bring to SAM

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Science, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas, whether to other technical peers, or non-technical project managers or customers
  • Knowledge of software languages, development models, and tools is a plus
  • Application documentation including system design and technical specifications
  • Agile Development Methodologies
  • A passion for working with teammates and customers to solve problems
  • Creative problem-solving skills and proven good judgment
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a high-tempo environment
