Job Description
DEA's Portland Water Resources team is hiring a Water Resources Project Designer to work on a variety of assignments related to habitat restoration, fish passage, floodplain analysis, stormwater conveyance and water quality management.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Designing of stormwater systems.
  • Analyzing open channel hydraulics.
  • Preparing supporting design documentation, including reports and technical memorandums.
  • Developing solutions to design problems.
  • Making revisions to documents marked up by client and/or Engineer.
  • Creating and managing electronic document file structure, naming convention in accordance with company standards.
  • Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Drafters to set-up and manage construction drawings and design documentation.
  • Can be relied on as productive team member to work on a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output that conforms to company standards.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Engineer-in-Training certification or has passed the FE exam within the next 6 months
  • 0-4 years of experience collecting data, completing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, writing reports, and preparing design drawings
  • Experience in Microstation/InRoads and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D
  • Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheet experience/proficiency


Preferred Qualifications:
  • GIS experience related to design analysis
  • Experience with Microstation Inroads Storm and Sanitary, OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk Civ3D, CivilStorm, SWMM, HSPF, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), SHR2D, and HY-8
  • Technical writing/editing skills
  • Experience designing in or around streams and wetlands
