DEAis currently hiring for an experiencedWater Resources Project Engineer to support major projects in our Puget Soundregion. This position will support a variety of assignments related to habitat restoration, fish passage, floodplain analysis, and storm water management. This position can be located in Bellevue, Everett, Olympia, Seattle, or Tacoma. This position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in water resources engineering related projects, including, but not limited to:

  • Stormwater facility design
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design
  • Culvert and bridge hydraulics
  • Stream, wetland, and habitat restoration design
  • Feasibility studies and master plans
  • Engineering and construction plans, specifications, and estimates
  • Coordination with regulatory agencies for project permitting


It will be the responsibility of the position to perform engineering design and to provide a high-quality product to DEA's current and future clients.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and contribute to the growth of our Water Resources group.
  • Responsible for planning and design of a wide range of water resources systems and facilities including hydraulicanalysis for stream crossings and evaluating for fish passage and scour. Responsibilities also include evaluation and design for stormwater and surface water management systems. Sanitary and or potable water design is a plus, but not required.
  • As a stormwater management task lead and engineer of record, collaborate with a team of support professionals, including but not limited to drafters, EIT's, GIS technicians, and technical editors. Responsibilities also include active management of Task specific scope, schedule and budget. Project management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management designs standards.
  • Opportunity to coach and mentor entry level staff.
  • Interface with clients and public agencies on an as-needed basis.
  • Assistance in Business Development efforts (e.g. engagement in professional organizations and visibility efforts), preparing proposals, and participating in interviews as needed.


Basic Qualifications:
  • BS inCivil Engineering with emphasis in stormwater management and or water resource design
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • 6+years of experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience
  • Strongwritten and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with common engineering software packages, including: Microstation OpenRoads, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Civil3D, CivilStorm, StormShed, MGSFlood, SMS/SRH-2D, HEC-RAS 2D, HY-8, ArcGIS, and Excel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+years of experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience
  • WSDOT, stream restoration, and fish passage experience
  • Registered Engineer in Washington
  • Storm and surface water master planning experience
  • Experience with aquatic resource permits, transportation infrastructure, and construction support services
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Staff management / supervision experience
  • Proficient in with common engineering software packages, including: Microstation OpenRoads, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, Civil3D, CivilStorm, StormShed, MGSFlood, SMS/SRH-2D, HEC-RAS 2D, HY-8, ArcGIS, and Excel

  • Anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 based on experience
