DEA'sSalt Lake City, UT officeis currently hiring for an experiencedWater Resources Project Managerin ourWater and Environment Business Unit. The primary focus for this position will be to market for and Task Lead or Project Managerfor a wide variety of Water Resources Projects. The Water Resource Group has continued to grow in technical expertise, but the group is looking for someone who can market these skills to current and potential clients. Additionally, this position will require the candidate to utilize their expertise in surface and stormwater management and planning; floodplain management and flood mitigation; surface water resource facilities design (stormwater conveyance, levees, dams, detention/retention basins, culverts); hydrologic/hydraulic analyses (drainage calculations, scour analyses, floodplain modeling, sediment transport, and floodplain mapping); coastal engineering process, including sea level rise and coastal flooding analyses; riparian restoration design; and fish passage design, as well as hydrologic and hydraulic modeling analysis; preparation of infrastructure feasibility studies and master plans; preparation of engineering and construction plans, specifications and estimates; and coordination with regulatory agencies for project permitting.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and contribute to the growth of our Water Resources group.
  • Responsible for leading project for a wide range of water resources systems and facilities including hydraulicanalysis for stream crossings and evaluating for fish passage and scour. Responsibilities also include evaluation and design for stormwater and surface water management systems. Knowledge on sanitary and or potable water design is a plus, but not required.
  • As a stormwater management task lead and engineer of record, collaborate with a team of support professions, including but not limited to drafters, EIT's, GIS technicians, and technical editors. Responsibilities also include active management of Task specific scope, schedule and budget. Project management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management designs standards.
  • Opportunity to coach and mentor entry level staff.
  • Interface with clients and public agencies.
  • Assistance in Business Development efforts (e.g. engagement in professional organizations and visibility efforts), preparing proposals and participating in interviews as needed.


Basic Qualifications:
  • BS inCivil Engineering with emphasis in stormwater management and or water resource design.
  • Registered professional Engineer in UT.
  • 10+years of experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer and water resource design experience.
  • Strongwritten and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with stormwater management design software including HEC-RAS knowledge/experience.
  • Familiaritywith AutoCAD/Civ3D, and or Microstation/Inroads to provide mentorship with design concepts.
  • Technical memorandum and report writing skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 15+years of experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience.
  • Experience working with Departments of Transportation, local public work departments and flood control districts, and other local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Registered Engineer in ID and/or CO.
  • Familiarity with GIS.
  • Storm and surface water master planning is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microstation Inroads Storm and Sanitary, Civ3D, CivilStorm, StormShed, MGSFlood, SRH2D, HEC-RAS2D, HY-8, and Excel
